Here is another quick roundup of a few stories I have starred in my trusty Google Reader.

GuitarSite.com has posted the top 10 Seymour Duncan pickups in 2007. This information was obtained through the Seymour Duncan newsletter. I have EMG pickups in my Epi right now, but I have always wanted to give some Seymour Duncans a go. This list should help me make my pick.

Musicnotes Inc. has reported that it has reached agreements with several thousand music publishers to allow the digital sheet music provider to offer free tab downloads online. MXTabs.net was a huge tab archive that was taken down by the MPA in June 2006. If you visit the site now you have a message that states they will be returning summer 2007, so I’ll be excited to see what kind of music is available when it is relaunched.

Yet again Lori Linstruth has put together another great tool for guitarists. This time it is in the form of blank tab sheets for noting down your riffs. Great work Lori!

Yngwie Malmsteen is auctioning off his 1983 Ferrari GTS 308 QV on eBay. Malmsteen purchased the car while recording the album Eclipse and has owned it for 18 years. Currently the highest bid is $19,100 with 2 days remaining.

Ozzy (and presumably Zakk) will be the musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on May 22nd - the release date of his new studio album Black Rain. EDIT: Looks like he will be playing twice, both the 21st and the 22nd!

Blabbermouth has two links to articles about Chuck Schuldiner. The first is a tribute by Greek Hard Rock magazine originally published in December 2006, and the second is a tribute published by Guitar World in the April 2007 issue.

Will this Dean ML painted by modern artist Mark Ryden sell for one million dollars? He’s a wicked artist, but I doubt it will. It’s a sweet looking guitar though.

After Eric Clapton was reported to have made just under five million on the sale of the rights to Clapton: The Autobiography, Keith Richards is now also shopping around to sell his book. Apparently he wants to beat Clapton’s 5-mil deal. I say good luck with THAT.

Just a few notes for today:

First it was reported that Courtney Love was planning on holding an auction to sell off all Kurt Cobain’s stuff, now it seems as though she is planning on selling it all to a single collector. There is a mixed reaction from fans, but really, in the end, who cares about a few old flannel shirts.

I probably could have predicted this: Zakk Wylde will be at Dimebag Darrell’s RockWalk induction to play the song he wrote as a tribute to Dime — “In this river”. Zakk Wylde has been reported to have said that this song will never leave the BLS set list. After the induction, guitars from the The Six String Masterpieces display will be auctioned off in support of Little Kids Rock.

Lori Linstruth from Play Like a Girl has put together a ShredTracker for keeping record of your practicing. I love how very professional looking and well thought out it is. It is a simple tool that can get you pumped about practicing again. Seriously, everybody wants to get better, but sitting in front of a metronome for hours on end isn’t really my idea of a fun practice session. Well, this just adds that bit of fun back to it and is just another reward in the end when you can look at it and see how far you have come.

• Arch Enemy’s Michael Amott talks about the new album that is currently in progress. - I didn’t know this, but apparently they always record 4 guitar tracks on all of their albums. That’s pretty schwicked.
• Strat-O-Blogster has found a set of 3 Tom Morello videos on YouTube from a Guitar World magazine. Tom shows off how he creates some of his guitar sounds. It’s a really interesting view.

Create Digital Music has a post on Ubuntu Studio. Apparently it is an all-in-one package of audio/video/imaging tools for Ubuntu. Right now it sounds like it is a standalone distribution. This is interesting to me because I actually use Ubuntu as my main OS. I will be giving this a test drive April for sure when it is due out.

Check out the Gibson YouTube Channel. Basically just a bunch of YouTube videos that have people playing or talking about Gibson guitars.

Van Halen will reunite to do a North American tour in 2007. The reunion will include David Lee Roth, Eddie & Alex Van Halen, and Eddie’s 15 year old son will be on Bass.

Only one for today…

Black Sabbath will (finally) be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. - It’s way overdue if you ask me.

Tom Petty’s guitar will be on display at the new Hard Rock Bar which opened at the Valletta Waterfront.

Red Octane reports that it is in the works of producing Guitar Hero 2 for the PS2. There was also of some spin-offs in the works for different genres including country and metal.
